Who Needs an SIA Refresher Course?

The SIA has updated its licensing requirements — and from April 2025, all Door Supervisor and Security Officer licence holders will be required to complete a refresher course before renewing.

📅 When Did the Rule Change?

From April 2025, the SIA introduced new mandatory training modules covering:

• Terror threat awareness

• Search procedures

• Dealing with vulnerable people

• Physical intervention (Door Supervisor licence holders only)

These modules are now compulsory for anyone renewing their licence — even those with many years of experience in the security industry.

❓ Do You Need It?

You will need to complete a refresher course if:

• You are renewing your SIA licence on or after April 2025

This applies to both:

• Door Supervisors – 2-day training

• Security Officers – 1-day training
