According to the World Health Organisation, Infection prevention and control (IPC) is a scientific approach and practical solution designed to prevent harm caused by infection to patients and health workers. This approach is grounded in infectious diseases, epidemiology, social science and health system strengthening.

The course
The Infection Prevention and Control is designed to help you and your business understand how to prevent and control infection and why it is important to do so. 
The course begins by teaching the different pathogens that cause infection. It then outlines how infections occur, the factors that can make a person more vulnerable to infection and the steps you can take to prevent infections from occurring. Learn how your own health and hygiene could pose a risk to people that you care and support for and understand the procedures that should be followed to reduce risks when dealing with hazardous spills, waste and linen.
Finally, you will learn about the legal requirements relating to infection prevention and control, and your and other people’s responsibilities.

The course can be used as a stand-alone module or as part of an induction programme.

How does it work?
Learners are given log in details and simply they can log on to the Learning Management System (LMS) and work their way through the course, along with scenarios relevant to their area of learning. Assessment is carried out on the completion of each module via a series of multiple-choice questions.
 
Certification
