As of 1 April 2021, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) made it a legal requirement for all learners enrolling on a Door Supervisor or Security Officer course to hold a valid

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification (or equivalent). This ensures that all frontline security staff are equipped to respond to emergency situations while on duty.

The first aid qualification must:

• Be completed before you begin your SIA training course

• Be recognised by an Ofqual-regulated awarding body

• Have at least 12 months’ validity remaining on the day of the SIA course

Without it, training providers are not allowed to register you for the Door Supervisor or Security Officer qualification.
