New Requirements for SIA Qualifications from 1st Apr 2021

From 1 April 2021, SIA is planning to introduce changes to Level 2 Door Supervisor Course Qualification

First Aid: Learners should present their First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate to their training provider before they start training. This certificate must be valid for at least 12 months from the course start date.

Length of training: 7 days (6 days security + 1 day First Aid / The SIA stipulates a minimum number of contact hours and a minimum number of training days. 44 hours applies for DS training as minimum contact time only where self-study can be evidenced. 8 hours of elearning to be completed prior to the course completion date in addition to the 7 day training.

Top-up training for door supervisors and security guards
From October 2021, door supervisors and security guards will need to complete top-up training before they renew their licence.

SIA have developed this top-up training to make sure current Door Supervisor and Security Guard licence holders have the same basic skills and knowledge. The top-up training will also bridge the gap between the existing and new qualifications, as it will include elements of the new content that they are introducing.
